In 2013, RoAndCo created the original Fellow Barber name, brand, and packaging design, seeking to reflect the familiarity of a neighborhood barbershop and the uniquely personal customer service Fellow Barber provides. The aesthetic was utilitarian, inspired by the packaging of vintage oil and paint cans and featuring the brand’s signature safety-green color. In 2019, founder Sam Buffa returned to RoAndCo to discuss a shift in the business and its customers: As it turned out, Fellow Barber's products appealed to more than just men. With the opportunity to introduce a new product line and broaden the audience, RoAndCo redesigned the brand with a fresh new look, focusing on the name Fellow.
